As for the questions, why don't you guys start a forum? I'm guessing that you guys just haven't gotten around to it yet. But if it isn't something that has come up, consider it. Blogs are cool, but I just think that more information can be exchanged more easily and readily in a forum. If you get enough listeners participating then they'll post interesting stuff and maybe some of your show prep work will be don...

I think I currently draw the biggest comic, possibly the biggest in history. My panels are all 7-8 inches high, and the widths vary depending on panels...but each strip clocks in at about 7 inches wide by about 24 inches...that's a monster strip. I end up scanning 4 pieces of paper per strip.

I completely agree... What does sarcasm look like? I think maybe top-heavy letters... maybe stretched out a bit.

Y'know, when I first started chatting on line years ago, I found my particular sense of cynical humor didn't exactly translate to being read. (I usually hear Douglas Adams in my head when I write, so everything has that sort of 'don't take me seriously' tone.) That's why I reluctantly started using those #$@!% emoticons... It just made things easier...it's lazy writing, but I still refuse to do things like "how r u?" Good gravy, I hate that. Still, sarcasm font is a great...

My strip (when it's updated once a month, apparently) is a panel, and I work in an area about 6" wide X 7" high...I think I measured a "Far Side" and doubled the print size. I like working big so I can get detail and have some space to work, but sometimes that can be a little daunting, too. I don't think layout is one of my great skills, and it's something I should put more time and effort into. I am kicking around a new 4-panel strip idea, because I really want to get int...

Sorry, I'm not well versed in creating forums. I know there are programs pretty much ready to go, you just have to set up your topics and such, but there are some programs who have big security holes, at least that's what I've heard.

I know Brian has a forum on his Mission Deep site, so he's got some technical knowledge there. But I'm sure he's really busy.

It's whatever size you feel comfortable working in. It depends on the details of your artwork and stuff. I'd say, take a measurement of your doodles, stuff you draw when you're goofing around, or on the phone and stuff. Measure a character you're happy with, you'll find that you commonly draw at a certain general height. Then make your frame a third more of that-to twice as high. That'll give you a good gener...

And I advise you to avoid square panels. Try taller ones so that you can add the speech above the characters.

I really like this podcast and I really hope you guys use it to support new webcomics.
Normally there aren't many artists that share their experience.
One of the things about doing a free of charge work is to have someone tell us that they liked it.

As for listening to EXTRALIFE RADIO, good for you. You should also listen to Scott Johnson's DIARY OF A CARTOONIST, that's pretty good too. My favorite podcasts are 1:RING OF FIRE, 2:EXTRALIFE RADIO, and 3: the Jonathan Brandmeier weekly podcast.
They're great to listen too as well.

We know that. Believe me when I tell you that last week's absence could not have been avoided. Personal stuff. I'll leave it to the parties involved whether or not it's worth explaining to you. I hope that you can understand that sometimes some things are just more important than a podcast.

It is a fact that consistency is important...it's hard to keep people listening if you don't keep the product coming. For example, I am a big fan of "Alien Loves Predator"...I think it's brilliantly written, and if you go back to the beginning of the archive and follow it, it's hilarious. However, he's obviously got things going on in his life that have slowed him up, and his postings have almost stopped. After hearing the shows I e-mailed every webcomic artist I visit to say how good their work is and how much they've lighten up my days.
